Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis within therapy for the treatment and relief of a variety of medical and psychological symptoms.

Amanda uses an eclectic mix of different therapies depending upon your symptoms, expectations of therapy, your approach to life, and your goals and aspirations. The therapy is mainly solution based, looking forward to the future and all its possibilities. Therapy can be based on Behaviourism, Cognitive Psychology, the protocols of Neurolinguistic Programming, Ericksonian therapy, Quantum Psychology ideas and many more different schools of thought.

The list of situations where it can aid the individual is endless and it is particularly effective for those who wish to take greater control—or perhaps regain control—of some aspect of their life.

Here are some of the many conditions that can be treated through hypnotherapy:

Phobias Irritable Bowel Syndrome Insomnia and other sleep problems Interview preperation
Anxiety and tension Dystonia Lack of concentration Lack of confidence
Weight problems Enuresis Low self esteem Nail biting
Blushing Bruxism Obstetrics Overeating
Bulimia Compulsive Behaviour Pain Control Panic disorders
Dentist Fears Headaches Performance anxiety Skin Conditions

Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a natural state that everyone passes through daily. If you have ever been so absorbed in a book or a film so that it has felt as if you are actually there, that is a form of hypnosis, as is the experience some people have when waking in the morning, being aware of everything going on around them yet still being in a very relaxed dream like state.

During formal hypnosis your eyes will be gently closed and you feel as if you haven’t a care in the world. You are in control all the time and can come out of this altered state of conscious at any time, much in the same way as one can snap out of a vivid daydream.

Whilst you are in this beautiful relaxed state the hypnotherapist is able to communicate directly with the unconscious mind, a source of many of our problems as well as a tremendous reservoir of unrecognised potential strength and knowledge, i.e. the forgotten resources. Nobody can ever be hypnotised against their will and, even when hypnotised, people can still reject any of the suggestions given if they are not appropriate.

Mental imagery can also be utilised to assist people to make changes in their lives. The unconscious mind does not distinguish between real and imagined experiences, which is why dreams can feel so real
.
This phenomenon can be used so that clients can create new positive realities for themselves or alter their perception of past events that may affect current behaviour.

Self-Hypnosis

Self-hypnosis is taught to most clients at some point during the therapy. It is a tool that may be used for life as it enables you to learn to reprogram your unconscious mind.

Self-hypnosis automatically stimulates a great deal of behaviour modification by eliminating stress. When practiced over a period of several weeks it can bring about a noticeable decrease in anxiety and improvement in self-confidence.

Smoking

Most people require only one session in order to stop smoking. Included in this session, which normally lasts about an hour and a half, is an in depth discussion so that the therapy is tailor made to your needs.

During the treatment you will be in a very relaxed state. New positive suggestions are given to your unconscious mind that will act on them uncritically if, and only if, you really want to stop smoking. It is of no use if your family and friends want you to stop. You must really want to stop as no one can make you do anything you do not want to do.

In 1992 the New Scientist magazine conducted a large-scale study into the claims of hypnosis as a method of stopping smoking, comparing it to other methods. It was found that hypnotherapy was the most effective method by an impressive margin.

Session details

Hypnotherapy is a rapid and brief therapeutic technique, and does not encourage you to remain in therapy any longer than is necessary. All hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis with the hypnotherapist merely acting as a guide, directing you towards your own true potential. The ability to use self-hypnosis between sessions increases the speed of treatment and gives a greater sense of self-confidence.

Depending on the individual’s need most conditions can be treated within a handful of sessions, with a session lasting an hour. Following the first session you will be advised how many sessions may be required, if any.

All sessions take place at the address given below, however if travel or unease at leaving your own house is an issue, please call and a home visit may be arranged.

Price

Per session £50.00
Stop Smoking £75.00
